This 20 days (19 nights) safari in Uganda will begin and end in Kampala. It will take you to several places that am sure you will e fascinated by what you will see.
You will have 2nights at Paara safari Lodge, 2nights at Ndali/ Rwenzori travelers inn, 2 nights at Semiliki safari Lodge/Kanyankyu Ecological site (FB),2 nights at Mwea-safari Lodge/Jacana Lodge,2 nights at Gorilla Nest Lodge/ Kinigi Guest House (FB),2 nights at Gorilla Resort / Buhoma homestead,1 night at Lake Bunyonyi overland camp, 2 nights at Mantana tented Camp / Rwonyo Camp, 2 nights at Ngamba Island Camp (FB) and 1 night at Hotel Africana/Sheraton.
Depart from Kampala by road to Murchison Falls National Park. You will stop in Masindi town for lunch then proceed to the magnificent falls. You will drive to the top of the falls where the Nile perfects its beauty. Here you will see the calm Nile forcing its self through a narrow gorge to fall a distance of about 150 ft down producing a thunderous roar of white water- unbelievable scenery! Check the series of cascades it forms, which can be viewed at different points up to the culmination. You will then be transferred to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive in the northern circuit of the park with rolling plains where you can view Lions, Giraffe, Hartebeest, Buffalo and Elephant as well as many of the other mammals of the park. For the birders amongst you these areas support the Secretary Bird, Black Chested Snake Eagle, Tawny and Marshal Eagles Carmine and Swallow Tailed Bee-Eaters, to pick just a few. This is a beautiful drive across Borassus Palm Forest and grassland savannah down to Lake Albert where the Albert Nile heads north to the Sudan.
In the afternoon, go for a boat trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls where the Nile thunders through a small 7-meter gap, or down river to the delta where the Nile empties into Lake Albert. This is an experience not to be missed! The banks of the Nile are home to many species. You may see huge Nile Crocodiles, big Pools of Hippos and other wildlife that may come down to
After breakfast drive to Kibale Forest National park – the home of the Chimpanzees. You will reach in the afternoon. Have lunch and then rest. Dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, transfer to Kanyanchu Tourist centre for briefing before tracking the chimpanzees at 08.00 am. There are more than 90% chances of encountering habituated chimps.This walk will provide you with the opportunity to see a wide range of flora and fauna. View a variety of butterflies, birds and other insects. Have a tour of the crater region around Ndali lodge. In the afternoon enjoy a nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland where there are a variety of birds and monkey species. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast depart Kibale for Semliki Game Reserve . The drive will take you down the eastern side of Lake Albert. Situated in the basin of the western Rift valley, Semliki is one of the wildlife sanctuaries with many habitats ranging from Riparian forests, rain forests to short and high grass savannah. It is also know for its night game drive that reward you with nocturnal dwellers like the white tailed mongoose and slender mongoose, standard and pennant winged nightjars, cats, hyenas, leopards and many more. This is the only place in Uganda where you can do a spot lit night drive. The park generally offers lots of surprises because you never know what you might find. Dinner and Overnight.
After breakfast, proceed into the gorgeous gallery rainforest to track wild chimpanzees. These are usually tracked at dawn or dusk due to the fact that these apes tend to disappear in the middle of the day. There are also a number of bird species which are found in this picturesque forest. Retire from the chimp search and then in the afternoon you may relax at the pool or go for a game drive as you watch the sun dip. Dinner and Overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National park through the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Ranges. The journey will offer you with game enroute. The probable wildlife you may encounter en route includes leopard, hyena, elephant, buffalo, and Lion. You will arrive Queen Elizabeth National Park in time for lunch and then continue for a boat trip on the Kazinga channel where you will view Hippos, buffaloes and water birds at a close range. Dinner and overnight.
Early morning wake up for the morning game drive to catch up with early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. During the game drive, you will be likely to meet grazing hippos, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, water bucks, stripped jackal, leopard and of course the several warthogs. Return to your accommodation for lunch. After lunch, carry on with the park’s exploration by tracking Chimpanzees at Kyambura gorge. Besides Chimpanzees, this walk will subject you to experience other primates like the colobus monkeys, baboons and others. Dinner and overnight and overnight at your place of accommodation.
After breakfast and check out, enjoy a game drive in Queen Elizabeth enroute to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will pass through the Ishasha sector to reach Bwindi in the late afternoon. This journey will offer you with views of game and you should watch out for tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. After checking in the lodge you may go for a community walk to be given a welcome entertainment. Dinner and overnight.
After breakfast you will transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing before you set off at 9:00 am through the tracks to search for the humble giants. You will go with packed lunch because it’s hard to determine how long it will take you to meet these great apes. However the time ranges between 2-9 hours depending on the movement of the giant primates. The activity is wearisome, it entails walking along steep hilly tracks however encountering these great relatives of man erases all the poor memories/ hardships you went through in trying to find them. They are awe-inspiring! Dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, check out from your accommodation and drive to Rwanda. You will reach in the evening and with time permitting you may go for a city tour to visit the markets laces, Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the genocide memorial. Dinner and Overnight.
After breakfast transfer to Parc National Des Volcans (PNV) headquarters for briefing before you go trekking. With your packed lunch you will start tracking the gorillas. The activity is demanding although at the same time it’s rewarding. The time its takes ranges between 2-9 hours depending on the movement of these great apes. The experience derived from meeting these giant primates in unforgettable. After tracking the gorillas, retire back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
This morning have breakfast and then drive to Lake Bunyonyi. It is a picturesque spot dotted with small islands and ringed with very steep terraces. The place is known to be a bird watchers sanctuary with plenty of water birds. Small and large from which the lake was named- Bunyonyi- meaning Small birds. Dinner and overnight.
This morning you will go for a canoe ride on lake Bunyonyi to explore the birds and the over all area. After the bird watching experience, retire to you accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Have breakfast to drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will drive through some of the finest sceneries to reach Lake Mburo NP in the afternoon. You will have lunch and then go for a canoe ride on Lake Mburo to search for animals at the shores of the lake. This Park is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates. Bird viewing opportunities are excellent - for birders, this is one of the best places to find African fin foot, papyrus bush shrike. Dinner and overnight at your preferred accommodation.
Take an early morning game drive through the park in search of plain game like zebra, hippos, crocodiles, eland, antelope, impala and a variety of birds. You will return to your accommodation for breakfast and then take a guided nature walk. This walk takes you to the Salt Lick Area which offers a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one point while they lick the salty soil. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
This morning have breakfast to drive back to Kampala. You will have a brief stop at the equator for photographs and crafts to reach Kampala in the afternoon. Have lunch and then rest this afternoon at your Hotel. After Breakfast depart for Kampala
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Victoria shores for your cruise to Ngamba Island. The boat transfer will take you about an hour. You will arrive the chimpanzee sanctuary to be briefed about the sanctuary and then go spend some time with the chimps as they feed. Later you will go for a nature walk on the island with the young chimps. Dinner and overnight on the island.
You will go for forest walk with the chimps in the morning following breakfast. It is an interest walk as the chimps climb on you, pull your hair or walk hand by hand with you. It’s awesome. Dinner and overnight at the Island accommodation.
After breakfast, embark on your return trip to Kampala or Entebbe to catch your onward flight or relaxation at your preferred hotel.
